Primary Election 2026 Deadlines
May 4: County elections offices begin mailing ballots
May 5: Ballot drop-off locations are open (vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, at a drop-off location, or to your county elections office)
May 18: Final day to register to vote in this election (all California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot via postal mail)
May 23: Vote centers open for early in-person voting in all Voter’s Choice Act counties
June 2: “Election Day”
June 9: By this day, county elections offices must receive vote-by-mail ballots (postmarked no later than June 2)
